TAMPA (weird facts) - A Tampa man and his roommate almost had to pay their $100,000 electric bill.
Richard Grieshop and Lynda Williams live in a one-bedroom mobile home. Both use wheelchairs and live on fixed incomes.
Grieshop says their power was turned off during the holidays. With help from friends and social services, they got it turned back on about two weeks ago.
He says he called the Tampa Electric Co. and was told to pay up or face having his power turned off again.
A company spokesman tells WFLA TV that the bill was caused by a system error and that they don't owe that amount.

weird facts(AP) A Swedish university has received 3.8 million kronor $590,000) in research funds to measure the greenhouse gases released when cows belch.
About 20 cows will participate in the project run by the Swedish University for Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala, about 40 miles north of Stockholm, officials said Monday.
Cattle release methane, a greenhouse gas believed to contribute to global warming, when they digest their food. Researchers believe the level of methane released depends on the type of food the eat.
Project leader Jan Bertilsson said that the cows involved in the study will have different diets and wear a collar device measuring the methane level in the air around them.
"This type of research is already being conducted in Canada so we will be in contact with Canadian agricultural researchers in the near future," he said.
The research will be funded by a grant from the government's Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agricultural Sciences and Spatial Planning.

BARNSTABLE, Mass. - The luck keeps rolling for a convicted bank robber in Massachusetts who won a $1 million lottery prize.
Although he violated his probation by buying the ticket, a judge says he can keep the money.
A lawyer for Timothy Elliott, 55, called the violation minor, and the Massachusetts lottery commission previously said it saw no basis for withdrawing the prize.
Barnstable Superior Court Judge Richard Connon approved the probation department's agreement that he could keep the winnings. The only change is that Elliott now must pay a monthly $65 probation supervisory fee, previously waived because he had been indigent.
Elliott pleaded guilty in October 2006 to unarmed robbery for a Cape Cod bank heist and was placed on five years' probation. The terms required him to not "gamble, purchase lottery tickets or visit an establishment where gaming is conducted"
The jackpot was won on $10 ticket for the "$800 Million Spectacular" game that Elliott bought at a supermarket in Hyannis. He already has received the first of 20 annual $50,000 cheques from the lottery commission.

Weird Facts: Man Receives Paychecks Five Years After Leaving Job, Pockets $469,000 Before Getting Arrested

$469,000 payroll error at a New Jersey company has earned an Illinois man a date with police. Anthony Armatys of Palatine, Ill., was arrested Wednesday on theft charges after allegedly receiving electronic payroll bank deposits from a New Jersey company he never worked for, authorities said.
Officials at Avaya Inc., a telecommunications provider located in Basking Ridge, discovered checks had been mistakenly direct deposited into his account for nearly five years, according to the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.
Armatys, 34, had accepted a position with Avaya years ago, authorities said, but he rescinded the acceptance before he ever started working. However, a system error resulted in checks being deposited into Armatys' bank account from the fall of 2002 to March of 2007, when the company discovered the error, officials said.
During that time, Armatys collected more than $469,000 in pay and even withdrew approximately $1,900 from his company retirement account administered by Fidelity Investments, authorities said.
Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne Forrest said it took investigators 11 months to do a thorough investigation, which resulted in the time gap between the discovery of the error and Armatys' arrest.
"The investigation had to be done, records had to be obtained, the list goes on," he said.
Armatys, who was awaiting extradition to New Jersey on Wednesday, was charged with one count of theft by deception; his bail was set at $50,000.
Commander Kurt Schroeder of the Palatine Police Department in Illinois said Armatys was taken to Cook County Jail in Chicago and would likely have an extradition hearing on Thursday. He did not know if Armatys had retained a lawyer yet.
Attempts to reach Armatys, whose home phone number is unlisted, were unsuccessful.
Avaya spokeswoman Deb Kline said the company had no comment on the matter.
Avaya has 18,000 employees globally and 1,800 in New Jersey, she said.

BEIJING (Reuters)—The names of three banks and the word "stocks" beat "sex" to become four of the most Googled words in China last year, according to a Google China list seen on Thursday.
China Merchants Bank, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and China Construction Bank ranked second, third and sixth, according to a list supplied by Google China on its website (www.google.cn).
"On the Chinese mainland, it was money and technology that took the honors last year," the China Daily said, pointing out that "sex" was the most popular keyword for Google users in some other countries.
Fourth on the list was "stock", not surprising with Shanghai shares having risen 97 percent last year. At number 1 was "QQ", a Chinese instant message service and a brand of car.
China's Central Bank, the Ministry of Finance and Banking Regulatory Commission ranked first, third and fifth in the "Most Popular Departments" list, the Web site said.
In another list named "qiu zhi", or "seeking knowledge", "what is a blue chip" and "how to invest in the stock market" were the most searched questions on Google in China, while "what is love" and "how to kiss" ranked top of the global list.
China keeps a tight rein on Internet content and has launched several campaigns to root out online pornography, perhaps one reason why "sex" did not score so well.
